In 1917, Abraham Straus, a tailor, began a small knitting business to support his family of eight. Soon thereafter, he created the first knit trimmings for jackets and other outdoor apparel.

Today Abraham's knitting mill is a multi-million dollar success as the company continually expands to meet the needs of new markets and opportunities.

Based in St. Croix Falls, WI, the commitment to customers, family, quality and innovation that Abraham Straus began is stronger than ever.

  Straus has earned the reputation of being an innovator in the knit industry. We have always put a high priority on developing new fabrics and designs that utilize the latest materials and technology. Our R&D staff will ensure that you, the customer, have access to the most up-to-date and innovative knit products available.
• Custom Dyehouse
  Our in-house dye facility offers custom dying to customer specification. We also maintain an extensive library of previously established colors for your convenience.
• Medical Garments
  Straus Knitting Mills manufactures millions of knit cuffs for disposable medical gowns as well as labcoats and scrubs. We also produce knit fabric for many other products including protective coverings, braces and bandages.
• Industrial Knits
  Straus knits a wide variety of products for the industrial and safety markets. Nomex® and Kevlar® knits are used in applications such as protective gloves and fire retardant garments. We also have a complete line of goods for use in cleanroom applications.
• Custom Knit
